It works on sonar principle – emitting ultrasonic waves that, after reflecting from an obstacle, determine the distance between the car and the obstacle. While reversing, the device correctly detects obstacles on the vehicle’s path and warns the driver with sound signals (appropriate to distance) or via the LED display.
