Lantern’s Wrath is a solo expansion for Settlers: Kingdoms of the North, the cult strategic board game by Joanna Kijanka (Robinson Crusoe: Amazing Stories, Neuroshima HEX: Beasts). The expansion introduces a series of scenarios linked by a campaign. You play as the advisor to the emperor of a chosen clan and must rebuild the magnificent Temple of the Merciful in time. However, a mysterious Lantern Order stands in your way. Each of the 15 scenarios has two possible endings. If you achieve the required points and complete all objectives, you win the scenario and proceed to the next. If you lose a scenario, you can continue playing, but beware: losing three scenarios in a row means defeat in the entire campaign. Lantern’s Wrath is compatible with other expansions (except the Saikoro and Urvarta clans), allowing you to replay the campaign multiple times with different clans.
Special Mission
Huge oak doors open, revealing a vast interior. Your monarch never spared palace furnishings and never had any taste. You sit on one of the uncomfortable chairs and listen to reports: poor harvests, floods in the south, frosts in the north—or maybe the other way around? Chickens won’t lay eggs, cows won’t give milk… Amid all this, rebuilding the Temple of the Merciful seems secondary, right? Wrong! The subjects grow increasingly dissatisfied with its state, so if you want to keep your position, act quickly.
Setup
The Lantern’s Wrath campaign consists of 15 scenarios, each divided into paragraphs. Before the first game, choose your clan. Remember: you must use the chosen clan throughout the campaign, so choose wisely! Then open the Scenario Book to the Overgrown County scenario and prepare all components according to the base game instructions and scenario setup changes.
New Rules
When instructed to read a Scenario, go to the indicated paragraph and follow its instructions. Throughout the campaign, you will use your Progress Sheet to record changes affecting future scenarios. The box also includes new Lantern Order workers with special rules.
