The cosmic staff of the Technological Academy of Creation welcomes you to the most important exam in civilization design. This time, we chose a scenario dedicated to humanoid beings inhabiting an isolated continent. You will play the roles of local gods closely connected to their civilization, trying to lead it to a bright future while competing with other gods.
Civolution is a complex expert game using an innovative dice selection system to activate actions. Prove you can master your console expertly, adapting it to changing environmental parameters and various laws governing chaos and creation. Use your brain to best utilize dice and play cards, opening a world of strategy and multiple paths to victory. Each game reveals only a fraction of this immersive system’s possibilities.
How does it work?
Gameplay unfolds over 4 epochs, each divided into 8 phases where new cards and goals appear, civilizations make discoveries, and players perform actions.
Each player has their own console, a civilization center for managing resources and actions. We start with identical capabilities but can upgrade selected actions and expand possibilities over time.
To activate specific console modules, we use dice. Each action requires a combination of two specific numbers. We are not entirely at the mercy of luck—we can change rolled values and substitute dice with special tokens.
Available actions include moving tribes, increasing their numbers, resource production, transport, exploration, and other civilization management elements. They also cover achieving goals and conducting research to upgrade consoles.
Besides individual boards, players access a shared randomized map, rediscovered each game. Weather conditions and special event cards affect all players.
After the 4th epoch, players tally points to see who scored the most. Points are earned during and after the game, competing in 9 categories.
