Booklet: A Year in the Countryside

Here is the small agrotourism farm of Basia and Piotr Listków. In daily work in the field and yard, they are helped by children: Tymek, Maja, and Franek, grandma Hela, and Mr. Józek. There are also animals: horse, cow, sheep and pigs, turkeys, chickens, geese, ducks, as well as dog Misiek and two cats. The family is often visited by Mrs. Malinowska, who rides everywhere on her bike, and her granddaughter Ola. The owner of an organic store comes for sweet honey, pumpkin, and other products, and twice a year, around New Year’s Eve and the May Day weekend, summer guests come to Krzętla to rest from city noise and breathe fresh air.
Here, the rhythm of life is set by the seasons. In winter, Mr. Józek organizes sleigh rides for city guests. In spring, the field must be plowed and sown. Summer is harvest and haymaking time. Autumn bonfires and family potato baking make digging more pleasant.
“Year in the Countryside” contains twelve spreads introducing life on the farm. We learn what tasks children and adults have, what work in the field and with animals involves. Two additional pages present the characters and an interactive game.
