The Witcher: Old World is an adventure board game that takes players on a journey through a fantastic world full of dangers, secret magic, dark mysteries, and extraordinary places waiting to be discovered. The game is set many years before the saga of Geralt of Rivia, during a time when a monster plague ravaged the Continent. Only witchers, professional monster hunters trained to fight creatures hostile to humans, could counter it.

How does it work?
In The Witcher: Old World, each player chooses one of five witcher schools and plays as a professional monster hunter. Traveling across vast lands of the Continent, players uncover secrets, train in combat, and gain experience. Depending on the game length set at the start, players compete to collect 4 to 6 Trophies. The first to gather the required number wins, bringing the highest honor and fame to their school.

Trophies can be earned in many ways. The primary method is, fittingly, killing monsters. Players can also earn trophies by fighting for their school’s honor against other witchers in taverns, maximizing their Attributes, and completing specific Quests during their journey.

During gameplay, players build a unique deck of cards by selecting from available skills: attacks, dodges, and witcher signs. They use the deck in combat, combining cards into powerful attack combos and using special abilities of their witcher school. Quests, skirmishes, and even dice poker help them acquire new items, money, and develop skills.
