Are you heading to the open waters? Don’t say you’re chicken! This ship is practically new! Maybe it survived one or two boardings, but like wine—or rather rum, hehe—it only gets better. So, will you sign on? Let’s explore the surroundings, scare the coastal villagers, and maybe find some treasure. So, landlubbers, are there any sea wolves among you?

Preparing for the voyage
Before setting sail, launch the free Forgotten Waters app at fwcrossroads.com. Place the Area Book in the center of the table and the Map next to it. Now it’s time to assign your profession! The Scribe records information in the Logbook, the Steward manages Supplies, the Carpenter cares for the Hull, and the Boatswain watches over the entire Crew! The box contains 7 different characters, so if fewer players join, some will need to take on multiple roles.

Let’s sail!
Forgotten Waters unfolds over several rounds played on consecutive pages of the Scenario Book. Each round consists of 3 phases: Planning (choose actions), Action (resolve actions), and End of Round (read the entry on the scenario page). Depending on the mission, actions vary each time. Don’t hesitate too long choosing actions, as the Quartermaster times you, and indecision risks mutiny and defeat!

Ahoy, adventure!
Completing missions requires many tests. You’ll use 7 twelve-sided dice rolled for Hunting, Navigation, Accuracy, and other skills. Developing abilities and burying Treasures lets you fill in Constellation spaces on your player boards. Constellations represent your character’s growth, unlocking special Events that make your adventure unique.
