The rules are simple. Stack all monkeys into a pile. Flip the hourglass and start. The first player grabs one monkey and tries to build the longest monkey chain without touching others. The chain is built until the hourglass runs out. Then count monkeys and the next player starts. The winner is the one with the longest monkey chain.
Rules can be modified, e.g., build chains only with monkeys of a chosen color or compete who builds more monkeys in the basket within the time. Many possibilities exist.
The basket can be used for play or as storage after.
