MULTIPORT 232 is a device that allows issuing receipts on one fiscal printer from several sales programs installed on different computers. For many years, electronic cash registers, recording devices, or computer workstations with sales programs have been used in retail. The final result of each sale is a receipt printed on the cash register or on a special printer connected to the computer. In the latter case, the receipt printer is connected to the computer via an RS232 serial port. In many stores, due to customer service speed, it is convenient and often necessary to conduct sales at multiple stations. To enable simultaneous work at several stations, various methods can be used, but existing solutions have significant drawbacks.
Possible approaches:
1. Equip each sales station with a separate fiscal printer (very costly solution).
2. Use advanced software sharing the printer over a computer network (complex and not always possible, requiring appropriate or additional software).
3. Use “MULTIPORT 232” allowing connection of two computers to one RS232 serial printer.

MULTIPORT232 is equipped with 3 connectors typical for RS232C serial transmission:
One male connector for connecting the serial printer and two female connectors for connecting computers. For the simplest connection, use a standard “1-to-1” serial transmission cable terminated with DB-9 plug on one side and DB-9 socket on the other. Depending on the printer type, a different connector may be needed on the printer side. Always check the standard your printer uses. The device is powered from the computer’s USB port or external power supply.
